The idea of Counselling and advising colleges grew out of my experience as a parent assisting my own children with their respective college/ university searches, as well as from spending five (5) meritorious years marketing UK education and counseling parents in my capacity as director of marketing Global International College (the first college to start university foundation in Nigeria .) As the first point of contact with parents, I realized that our children needed help in making university and career choices. Many parents go through pains and agony in searching for the right schools for their ward. I saw many youths who had been writing Jamb for up to four (4) years without success. It was not a surprise to me that finding a school was stressful.

As a marketer and a counselor, I met many students, parents and secondary school guidance counselors who shared my distress. Many students wandered if there might be an alternative to the frenzied pace of JAMB preparation, they felt pressured to adopt. Guardians and counselors were frustrated at being unable to teach students (and sometimes their parents) to distinguish between the "best" school and the "right" school. Parents spoke to me about feeling ill equipped to bear the burden that applying to universities have become. Even the highly educated among them thought that the process itself and the options available to students had changed so much in a generation that they lacked sufficient information to give their children appropriate advice and assistance. Though some have employed the services of private teaching, most expressed dissatisfaction on some level with the teachers.

I believe that my going to Global International College was ordained by God to equip me with the necessary skills needed to step into the vanguard. I believe that if students are well guided they would conduct their university search in a sensible and orderly fashion, and to put together, applications that will allow them to succeed in making university and career choices.

My ultimate purpose in founding NEC is to change the focus of our students and to give parents who have the financial capability to sponsor their wards the opportunity to send them overseas to study. If, I am successful, students I counsel will not need to ask what they must do to get into the "best" university, but the right university. They will also concern themselves with discovering their interests and talents, with becoming the best people they can be and making informed decisions about their Universities, courses and study destination. When they have worked towards achieving these goals, finding the right university will be an adventure, not an ordeal.
